On the 22nd of March, JNU announced that the 15th JNU Women Professors Association was officially launched through a regular general meeting.
The council executives, newly elected at this regular general meeting, plan to present women's opinions based on community issues and play an active role. In particular, they announced that various attempts should be made to solve the problems faced by Korean society, which is the crisis of a population cliff, low birth rate, and declining school-age population, while emphasizing that the value of 'gender equality' can be a solution to these problems. “
The council, first formed in 1999, consists of 165 female professors, which corresponds to 24% of all professors at JNU.
The 15th president of the Jeju National University Women's Professors Association, Professor Jung Su-yeon (Department of Economics at College of Economics & Commerce) said, “We are mirrors of each other, and future female leaders in each field are another of us. The Women Professors' Council will grow together by finding contact points with JNU's Women's Staff Association, female college students, and many female networks in the community in the future.” In addition, she added, ”The JNU Women's Professors' Association will expand cooperation and solidarity with female staff members and female college students, and share their concerns with all JNU families who have concerns about raising and caring for their children.“
