JNU was selected as an accredited university as a result of the 2022 Educational Internationalization Competency Certification Evaluation on the 3rd of March. The evaluation was hosted by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Justice and conducted by the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The "Educational Internationalization Competency Certification Evaluation" is a system that certifies universities with Educational internationalization competencies in order to manage the quality of higher Education institutions and to expand the attraction of excellent foreign students. JNU has maintained its accreditation qualification since 2013 and has been raising its status as a global university.

Following the selection of a certified university, JNU will receive various support from the government such as simplification of visa issuance for foreign students who want to enter Korean language courses or undergraduate and graduate schools, government-invited foreigner scholarship (GKS) benefits, etc.

Cho Moon-jae, Head of the JNU International Exchange Headquarters, said, “The certification of internationalization capabilities in Education is the result of the efforts of university members despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic. From now on, JNU International Exchange Headquarters will continue to strive to enhance JNU’s internationalization capabilities by expanding the attraction of excellent foreign students."
