JNU announced that the Field-Weighted Citizenship Impact (FWCI), which represents the quality level of research, has been steadily improving as a result of analyzing Scopus data.

In particular, after the 4th stage of the BK21 project, the FWCI of papers presented by JNU's full-time faculty members is continuously rising from 0.98 in 2020 and 1.09 in 2021 to 1.24 in 2022. In addition, in 2022, JNU has achieved a leap forward to the top among the base national universities.

The FWCI is an indicator that measures how much the citation rate of research papers is higher than the global average. ‘FWCI of 1.24’ means that JNU's published papers are cited 24% more than the global average.

Over the past 10 years, the number of papers published by JNU has grown at an annual average rate of 4.9%, and the number of papers ranked in the top 10% of JCR (Journal Citation Reports) Ranking as well as FWCI has continued to rise, growing both quantitatively and qualitatively.

JNU President Kim Eel-hwan said, "JNU will further strengthen the researcher-centered research support system so that the university can leap forward as a world-class research-oriented university."
