JNU, Performance Briefing Conference on the Support Project for Product Competitiveness Enhancement in the Smart Tourism Industry

JNU Tourism Digital Content Promotion Project Group (Director Lee Dong-cheol, hereinafter referred to as ‘the project group’) recently held a performance briefing conference, ‘2022 JNU Support Project on Prototype production and product advancement for product competitiveness Enhancement in the smart tourism industry’ at Maison Glad Jeju.

 

The project, which is supported by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, provides companies in the province with corporate support services such as prototype production, product advancement, and technology doctors with a total project cost of KRW 42.2 billion. The purpose of this project is to revitalize the local economy by focusing on fostering regional specialized industries, increasing local job creation, and increasing corporate sales.

 

Customized support was provided for each stage of growth in the following four areas; △Production of converged prototypes in other industries △Production of market-customized prototypes △Advanced convergence products △Support for fostering export-oriented leading companies. A minimum of KRW 15 million and a maximum of KRW23 million won were provided for each company.

 

In this project, 11 companies in the province participated and achieved the following results such as Media art contents, mobile games, tourism docent service, tourism art products and contents development and VR hardware advancement combining the tourism industry and ICT.

 

Among the supported companies, PNI Company Co., Ltd. introduced 'Balleg', a product with improved performance and design, at the 2023 GDC (Game Development Conference) and is preparing to pioneer the export market with a positive response. Winops Co., Ltd. developed <Secret Wind Forest> Live Sketch using its own IP and is currently operating a free trial service at Robot Planet. In addition, with this support, the Marine Animal Museum Co., Ltd. began to introduce a service that digitized the offline tourism service, and with this as a stepping stone, it was selected for the 2023 Tourism Enterprise Innovation Voucher Support Project.

 

Director Lee Dong-cheol said, “As many companies have applied for the smart tourism business support project this year, the project group plans to strengthen close support, focusing on programs to support local economic revitalization and corporate growth.” He also emphasized, “JNU will play a role in establishing a growth system for companies through the convergence of digital technology and the tourism industry”.
