JNU College of Education-Hancom Genik, Promotion of Industry-University Joint Research Center Operation

On the 29th of March, JNU announced that it had signed a business agreement with Hancom Gennik Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Kwang-heon), an edutech specialized company, in order to establish an industry-academia-linked education cooperation system for future education, multicultural education and edutech joint research cooperation.
Under the supervision of JNU's College of Education (Vice President and Dean of Education Kim Hee-pil), the two organizations plan to establish an industry-academic cooperation system by establishing a joint research institute, the Jeju National University Hancom (JHC) Glocal Research Institute with this agreement. Through the joint research institute, the two organizations will develop programs to foster gifted students from multicultural family and artificial intelligence future Korean language education programs for married immigrants and foreign workers. In addition, Hancom GenieK Co., Ltd.'s AI-based Korean speaking education app "GenieK" and its know-how in operating the International Korean Ability Test (IKAT) will be used to promote the development of differentiated multicultural education contents.
Kim Hee-pil, JNU Vice President, said, "JNU will creates results that can lead the convergence and innovation of the education sector through joint research and cooperation projects with Hancom Genie Care Co., Ltd., which has a vision and excellent technology for future education.“
While Hancom Genie K Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Hangeul and Computer Co., Ltd. In cooperation with VNU University of Languages and International Studies in Hanoi, Vietnam, it is using the "Genie K" app in its regular Korean language curriculum. The company also operates the IKAT (Korean Language Proficiency Test) for university entrance and graduation certification. In addition, the company is actively developing Korean and multicultural education projects in Korea, such as providing multicultural education contents to schools under the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education.
