Jeon You-jin, JNU professor of Major of Aquatic Life Medicine at College of Ocean Sciences, won the Heritage Science Award at the "2023 Jeju Green Award" held at Maison Glad Jeju on Nov. 23.
The "Jeju Green Award" is a social contribution project by AmorePacific Group's Innisfree Moeum Foundation (Chairperson Lee Jin-ho) to discover and sponsor people who strive for sustainable characteristics of Jeju. The Jeju Heritage Award is given to those who have contributed to the preservation of Jeju's natural heritage value or to the sustainability of Jeju's unique resources through the discovery and development of technology to utilize them.
Prof. Jeon was awarded a Heritage Science Award plaque and KRW 5 million in recognition of his contribution to preserving the value of marine resources.
He stated his feelings about having received the award, saying, "It is an honor to receive this award for research that informs the value of Jeju's various marine resources and can be applied industrially. I will continue to study the basics and applications so that this technology can be used in related industries.“
Innisfree Moeum Foundation is a non-profit corporation established in 2015 by AmorePacific Group Innisfree to preserve Jeju's value. The foundation is carrying out projects for the conservation of Jeju nature and a sustainable future by inheriting Seo Sung-hwan’s love for Jeju. Seo was the founder of AmorePacific Group who reclaimed the wasteland in hilly and mountainous areas into a green tea field more than 40 years ago.
