Jeju National University's '2025 NanumSilcheon (Practicing Sharing) Volunteer Group' conducted a coastal cleanup event in the Aewol-ri coastal area of Aewol-eup, Jeju-si.

This volunteer effort was undertaken as part of the National University Development Project. Jeju National University aims to fulfill its social responsibilities by taking the initiative in addressing the serious marine litter problem on Jeju Island and fostering a clean marine environment in cooperation with local communities.

A total of 103 university members, including Education Minister Kang Hee-kyung, professors, staff, and students, participated enthusiastically despite the strong wind and chilly weather. They demonstrated their commitment to creating a clean marine environment, undeterred by the strong seaward winds.

The volunteer group contributed to improving the marine environment by collecting approximately 1,200 liters of various marine waste, including abandoned fishing gear, polystyrene, and plastic, from the Aewol-ri coast (near Aewol-ri 1877-1).
