JNU Marine Sports Center, 2023 Academic Research Support Project of the Ministry of Education in Korea

JNU Marine Sports Center (Director Seo Tae-beom) was selected as the "2023 50 Excellence Award in Academic Research Support Project of Korean Ministry of Education" and won the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Award on Dec. 8.
Since 2019, the center's traditional play research team has been promoting "development of sports education programs using traditional games" as a support project for the Korea Research Foundation's Humanities and Social Research Institute, and has been selected as "Excellence 50" in recognition of its research achievements over the past four years.
‘Neutrosport' developed through this study is a sports model based on traditional games. In addition, it is the educational program that contains the historicality of traditional games and the potential as a sport. The research team plans to promote the training of leaders through the distribution of ’Neutrosport’ to schools and the development of qualification courses in the future.
Among the 13,600 achievements of the Ministry of Education's academic research support project in 2022, a comprehensive evaluation of 179 candidate projects received through public offerings and recommendations was conducted in this excellence award. Finally, 26 cases were selected in the humanities and social sciences, 20 in the science and engineering field, and 4 in the Korean studies field.
Researchers selected for the excellent performance of the Korean Ministry of Education will receive preferential benefits such as giving additional points when selecting new academic research support projects in the future.
