Four students (Gwon Gi-jun, Kim Yeong-dae, Kim Eui-jeong, and Lee Min-hyeong) from JNU School of Law (Dean Lee Yun-seok) have passed the '2024 Law Clerk Selection Screening' in the recent announcement by the Supreme Court.
The achievement of successful applicants this year, totaling four students from JNU School of Law stands out significantly when compared to the passing of one in 2021, one in 2022, and three in 2023.
A law clerk assists judges in the trial duties by preparing various review reports, conducting legal and case law research, drafting papers, and conducting extensive investigations and studies on specific cases. Therefore, this position is one of the preferred positions for lawyers from law schools. In accordance with the unification of the law, only those with more than five years of legal experience, such as lawyers and law clerks will be appointed as judges by the end of December 2024.
Dean Lee Yun-seok of JNU School of Law said, “JNU has played a significant role in this achievement by operating the implementation of various customized programs, such as the operation of the ‘Law Clerk Preparation Group’ to allocate supervisors and provide continuous preparation materials and experiences.”, adding "In the future, not only will JNU Law School produce a large number of successful applicants but also provide administrative and financial support to cultivate excellent legal professionals so that JNU students can fully demonstrate their abilities to realize a fair and just society."
