JNU (President Kim Eel-hwan) College of Pharmacy (Dean Lee Sang-ho) inaugurated 'Im Moo-hyun Jeju Pharmaceutical Material Development Center' (hereafter Im Moo-hyun Center) at Pharmacy Hall No. 2 2206 of JNU College of Pharmacy on Mar. 8.
The "Im Mu-hyun Center" was established with the aim of realizing the vision of Im Mu-hyun, President of DAEJOO ELECTRONIC MATERIALS, to develop pharmaceuticals based on natural materials. The center officially opened following a six-month preparation period after a ceremony for a KRW 200 million development fund on September 20, 2023. Its objective is to leverage indigenous medicinal plants from Jeju to address unmet needs in an aging society through research and the development of technologies for product commercialization.
Notable figures attended the ceremony, including President Im Mu-hyun from DAEJOO ELECTRONIC MATERIALS, Vice President Im Jong-chan, Director Jeon Young-min, Vice President Park Ju-hwang, Research and Development Director Lee Dong-seol from HISENSE BIO, and Director Park Young-jun from Jeju Pharmaceutical Research Institute as well as professors and researchers from JNU College of Pharmacy. Following the ceremony, a briefing session was conducted where Dr. Lee Ji-hyun from JNU and Professor Park Se-jin from Kangwon National University presented and discussed the specific objectives and implementation plans of two projects slated for the "Im Moo-hyun Center."
During the event, Mr. Im expressed his gratitude to Dean Lee Sang-ho of JNU College of Pharmacy for presenting the possibility of realizing the dream of developing pharmaceuticals that can help humanity, a dream conceived over 40 years ago. He also said, "As the saying goes, 'well begun is half done,' I hope that with a positive attitude acknowledging that we've already accomplished half, we will achieve remarkable research outcomes. I pledge my unwavering support to this endeavor."
