Jo Ahn-joon, CEO Design & Food Culture Corp., Scholarship for 11 years

o Ahn-joon, CEO Design & Food Culture Corp., delivered 'Hakso scholarship', KRW 6 million, to two students in Department of Food & Nutrition at JNU Graduate School of Food and Nutrition.
‘Hakso’ is named after the late Hwang Hak-so, an independence activist, who was Jo’s father-in-law. Late Hwang participated in the independence movement on Feb. 28, 1919, and was arrested. He was sentenced to two years in prison by the Haeju District Court. In Jul. 1921, while in Haeju, he was arrested again for participating in the recruitment for the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. This time, he received a sentence of one year and six months in prison. In July 1927, he founded the Shin-gan-hoe Haeje Branch and served as its chairperson. In 2013, on the 94th anniversary of the March 1st Movement, he was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit for National Foundation.
Design & Food Culture Corp. was established on December 30, 2009 for the purpose of developing design related to food culture and pursuing the globalization of Korean food culture design. The company has donated a total of KRW 61 million in scholarships for JNU to cultivate regional talents for 11 years since 2014.
Jo said, "I began to deliver scholarships in return for JNU for having the happiest time in life. I hope that the students who received this scholarship will also work harder and become people who can help others even more than they received."
