JNU received an 'S grade' (excellent) in the 2nd year's annual evaluation of the intellectual property convergence talent training project in the new industry. It was hosted by the Korea Invention Promotion Association, which is in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Intellectual Property Office.

With support from the Ministry of Education and the Korean Intellectual Property Office, JNU Intellectual Property Convergence Talent Training Project has been dedicated to nurturing creative intellectual property convergence experts essential for innovation in new industries (biohealth, big data, next-generation semiconductors) in JNU Faculty of Biomaterials (Supervisor, prof. Kim, In-jung), Department of Management Information Systems (Prof. Hyun Jung-suk), and Department of Electronic Engineering (Prof. Hur Jae-young).

In the 2nd year's annual evaluation, the projects which were received high praise for their effective cultivation of intellectual property convergence talents, which evidenced by achievements such as patent applications, presentations, and awards at academic conferences, along with active participation in competitions. Moreover, the projects were selected as ‘S’-grade, which successfully established networks with local elementary, middle, and high schools by reinforcing the standard intellectual property curriculum within the major curriculum. Only 10% of the 50 departments in universities nationwide received an S-grade designation. JNU Faculty of Biomaterials and Department of Management information systems were to achieve this recognition, and Electronics Engineering Department earned an A grade. Particularly, the Biomaterials major received an S grade for the second consecutive year.

The project group has secured KRW 1.32 billion in the project funding from July 2022 to February 2025 and it will be provided with additional incentives this year as a result of the evaluation.
