In collaboration with Korea Nambu Electric Power Station (KOSPO, Shin Jung Shik, President), Jeju National University (Song Seok-Eon, President) promotes activating the supply of new sustainable energy and obtain the understanding of the issue from the community. In addition, the two parties agreed to the educational program to train energy professionals at a signing formality for the collaborative efforts.

 

The bilateral agreement aims at positively responding to the government’s new sustainable energy policy while promoting the mutual growth of the university and the energy industry in Jeju. For the project the Nambu corporation provides a total grant of 500 million won (50 million/year) for the next ten years.

 

The KOSPO expects a consensus platform being built for the community in installing offshore wind power and other new energy facilities which will be helpful in obtaining the residents’ acceptance of the sustainable energy policy.

 

JNU President Song said that the university expects to train the specialists who could contribute to the development of new sustainable energy industry models being pushed by the central government and Jeju Autonomous Government.

 

Nambu President Shin echoed the expectation expression by President Song, especially in achieving a true carbon free island for Jeju.
