해양스포츠센터, 전통놀이 진흥 세미나 개최
Marine Sports Center holds seminar for traditional plays

Jeju National University Marine Sports Center (Professor Kim Deok Jin, Director and Department of Physical Education) held the “2020 Traditional Plays Promotion” seminar in a graduate school of interpretation hall earlier this week (July 8~10, 2020).

Professor Kim Jae Woo of Joongang University, President of the Korean Society of Physical Education History presented a keynote talk entitled ‘Meanings and cultural values of Traditional Plays at the seminar.

Other speakers featured at the seminar included Professors Hah Woong Yong (“traditional tug-of-war plays), Ok Kwang (overseas traditional plays), Lee Hyun Jung, (school sports and traditional plays), and Sohn Hwan (policy issues for developing traditional plays).

Jeju National University Marine Sports Center also signed the agreement for collaborative research in the area of traditional plays and their future trends with the Korean Society of Physical Education History at the seminar.

The seminar event was organized by the JNU center under the sports education program through marine plays and games being implemented by the national research foundation. The JNU center has been conducting the research in the traditional plays with the 6-year grant support of the foundation since 2019.
