Jeju National University Intellectual Properties Education Leading University Project (Kim In Joong, Director) and Subtropical Horticulture Research Institute (Lee Hyo-Yeon, Director) held a joint seminar in “Bigdata-based biotechnology IP-R&D” seminar in the latter’s seminar hall last Monday (July 13, 2020).

The seminar was organized for JNU faculty and staff with their research in IP-R&D program and its commercialization potentials, namely in “biomedical biotechnology and bigdata/artificial intelligence technology innovation” and “bigdata-based phenomics analysis cases.”

For the seminar program, Professor Lee Cheol Woong of Korea University provided a helpful elucidation of the bigdata and artificial intelligence applications for the audience.

For example, in the field of biomedical biotechnology, uses of the bigdata/artificial intelligence for disease diagnosis, patent information and innovative technology prediction, emergency patient classification, selection of optimal hospitals for ambulatory transports, etc.

Professor Chung Yong Seok of the JNU Faculty of Bioindustry illustrated the analysis of the phenomics data and proposed an approach to the study of the effects of stress factors on plant growth (turf grass, in particular).

Director Kim commented that his project planned to provide IP-R&D education for those wishing to participate in it both in and out of Jeju region.
