JNU & UT relocate 4 departments…30 affiliate Industries move into the campus for Industry academy fusion and creating quality jobs

 

The Jeju Industry Academy Fusion Institute (Lee Nam Ho, President) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to signify the launching of the Jeju Industry Academy Fusion Zone and a launching formality for the frontier science campus in the Jeju Science Park, respectively, earlier this week (11:00, August 24, 2020).

 

The occasion brought Jeju Governor Won Hee Ryong, Jeju Provincial Council President Zwa Nam Soo, JNU President Song Seok-Eon, the University of Tourism President Kim Sung Kyu, Jeju International Free City Development Center Board Chairman Moon Dae Rim and a number of honored guests From the province’s organizations.

 

The entire proceedings took place under various untact and social distancing measures against the currently endemic COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Institute President Lee Nam Ho assured the audience that the newly opened campus was dedicated to create the quality jobs in addition to the on-site practical training of professionals.

 

The fusion zone-campus complex conducts a variety of education, research and development activities including industry-academic R&D and the development of infrastructure for the creation of employments with funding support from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy and Jeju Autonomous Government (cumulative total of 22.5 billion krw since 2016), The park complex houses academic and research units of Jeju National University, Jeju University of Tourism, Jeju TechnoPark, Jeju International Free City Development Center, Kakao Corporation, Amore Pacific, AOE, and Korea BMI.

 

The industry academy fusion zone covers the area of 12,205㎡ of land and houses the total space of 7966㎡ 4-storey campus (3213㎡) and industry affiliates research laboratories (4753㎡). Starting with the second semester, JNU juniors and seniors from the Departments of Chemistry, Cosmetics, Food and Nutrition, Computer Engineering, and the Jeju University of Tourism sophomores (multimedia games) are getting their education (more than 240 students will be Residents on the complex). They are involved in industry academy R&D invigoration program as well as receiving R&D-related on-site tailormade education.

 

The affiliate industries include ICT, BT, and cutting-edge technology projects to implement the fusion program for educating the students through on-site practical training and experiences.
