Jeju Regional Innovation Platform, Best (Grade A) for the First Year

JNU has been awarded the highest grade (Grade A) in the 'First Year Annual Evaluation of Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Projects'. This project is organized by the Korea Ministry of Education and the Korea Research Foundation.
With this evaluation, the Jeju Regional Innovation Platform(JRIP) received KRW 1.8 billion in incentives (additional project costs) in the second year, securing a total of KRW 52 billion in project costs, including state and local government subsidies and carryover.
Thus, JRIP achieved a great success by receiving the top evaluation in its first year after being selected in 2023.
The JRIP was selected as Grade A due to its high performance in systematic and specific business promotion through the following programs; ▲ Establishing three key areas: clean bio, green energy, future mobility, and intelligent services, cultivate key professional talents for the Jeju industry, ▲ Establishing a foundation for technology development and support for the regional industry, ▲ Realizing a digital ecosystem through the curriculum of JOY Sharing University and the establishment of an integrated management system (development of an integrated management model, and integrated log-in, etc.),▲ Linking between innovation in university education and key areas.
This result stems from the efforts to foster collaboration among the organizations with participating universities (Jeju Tourism University, Jeju Halla University) and more than 120 local innovative organizationson with Jeju province and JNU(Supervisor) as the center across three key areas; ▲ Clean Bio ▲ Green Energy, Future Mobility and ▲ Intelligent Services.
JNU President Kim Eel-hwan said, "The evaluation is meaningful in recognition of the results of all the platform members' efforts," and added, "JNU will continue to cooperate with universities and local governments to connect and extend the outcome of the RIS project, which will be fully implemented from next year. Through this, JNU will do its best as the supervising university by fostering outstanding talent and enhancing youth settlement in the region in order to lead to innovation in Jeju."
