Prof. Lee Hyo-Yeon wins ministerial award for GMO safety work

Professor Lee Hyo-Yeon of the Jeju National University (Song Seok-Eon, President) Molecular Biotechnology Program was awarded a certificate of merit as a distinguished LMO (GMO) safety research scientist from the Minister of Science, Technology and Communication last week (December 11, 2020).

He has been conducting research in the development of LMO crops and their safe management for the past 15 years for which he received the ministerial recognition for his contributions to the establishment of LMO research culture.

In particular, he pioneered the development of herbicide-tolerant LMO turfgrass for the first time and has carried out its environmental risk assessment studies in an isolated test lot for 14 years.
